[Florence] Crossing the Ponte Vecchio

Previous entry: [Florence] View of Ponte Vecchio from Ponte Santa Trinita
Pictures have been heavily re-sized for easier loading. Large resolutions of high-quality landscape images are available in an image gallery linked at the bottom of this post.
The Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone bridge and the oldest of six bridges in Florence. There are shops on it, mostly selling jewellery and souvenirs. I saw quite a lot of gold in the shop windows. It's a posh bridge and we did not do any shopping there.
Thoese white helmets worn by the police are pretty eye-catching.
The bust of Benvenuto Cellini takes centrestage of the bridge. He's an Italian goldsmith, sculptor, draftsman, soldier and musician.
Rows of jewellery shops behind me on both sides.
Panorama of the Ponte Alle Grazie. I actually prefer the view of Ponte Alle Grazie to the Ponte Vecchio because you can see mountains from afar.
Lighting suddenly became really funky-looking here...
Pigeons! Aww I've never seen a white one. Ivy was quick to snap a picture before they flew off.
We checked and double-checked the barrier for bugs and were glad to find that there were none. I angsted over trying to lift myself up on the barrier because many people including Ivy lifted themselves onto it with no issues, but I struggled because my legs are short >_< and there's no grip on the barrier to dig my ankles in.
A closer shot to try to hide the barrier...
I gave myself another heave. My poor arms really felt the strain but I managed to sit on the barrier!
Selfie time!
Ah the blurred scenery at the back looks like a painting.
View of the Ponte Santa Trinita
After we had enough of chilling on the bridge, we made our way to Ponte alle Grazie to cross it to go to Basilica di Santa Croce.
View of the Uffizi Gallery and Museo Galileo (the dark brown structure) from across the river.
The opposite riverbank, but I'm not sure what these buildings are. They are very scenic for sure.
On Ponte della Grazie:
Bridge pictures are better without railings.
